Curriculum Development Initiative
The Drake Music Curriculum Development Initiative (CDI) is working to identify and address barriers to full participation in the Music Curriculum for disabled/SEN students.
The initiative is funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation under its 'New Approaches to Learning' strand and seeks to broaden access to the music curriculum in general and to accreditation in music in particular.
The CDI is a national initiative and aims to:
• Create pathways to accreditation for disabled pupils who face barriers to progression within the National Curriculum for music at KS 3 & 4
• Lobby and work with exam boards, teacher training institutions and any others who can impact on improving access to accreditation in music
• Collate, disseminate and promote information on all accreditation options for disabled pupils, in order to raise awareness and broaden access
