| The Princess Royal visits Claremont School and Drake Music SW | Christine Janssen, 22 Dec 2008 |
| On Friday 16th January the Princess Royal will open the new Wooden Spoon Building at Claremont school. This new facility has been built to house the Pediatric Communication Aids Service (PCAS) and also Drake Music South West. It was funded by the Wooden Spoon Society. Drake Music SW run music sessions for Claremont pupils in the fantastic new workshop space which is equipped with environmental controls so that pupils can open doors, windows, blinds etc. using their personal communication aids. We also benefit from having our own office and secure storage space for all our Assistive Music Technology equipment. The partnership with PCAS continues to go from strength to strength - while our focus is on music and theirs is on communication, we both enable participation in these fields using Assistive Technology. We are currently working together to produce resources for the Sing Up pilot project, due to run in a number of schools throughout the South West in early 2009. | |
